Menu

The children really enjoy their ‘Nursery meals’ and you can rest assured that your child is having their ‘5 a day’ and more!

Our homemade meals are freshly prepared by our experienced cook, who provides us with delicious cooked lunches. We thoroughly believe that healthy eating in the early years sets the trend for future lifestyle.

Our Cook also makes a selection of healthy teas, including  soups, wholemeal pizza and a variety of sandwiches. Teas are accompanied by various fresh fruits and vegetables (seedless grapes / apples / cucumber / carrot and tomatoes) and homemade biscuits and cakes (reduced sugar).

Good wholesome, ‘Nursery cooked’ food, no added salt, sugar, flavours or preservatives. Milk, diluted juice and water are served with snacks and meals as recommended by OFSTED and the Dentist!

Allergens

The Food Information Regulation, which came into force in December 2014, introduces a requirement that food establishments must provide information about the allergenic ingredients used in any food they sell or provide.

There are 14 major allergens which need to be mentioned when they are used as ingredients in a food.

In addition to our current menu please find information about the 14 allergens that might be present in our menu. Please speak to the setting manager if further information is required.

There are 14 allergens currently listed under food law that you must declare. These are:

cereals containing gluten, eg wheat (including spelt and khorasan), rye, barley and oats and their hybridised strains

  • crustaceans, eg prawns, crab and lobster

  • eggs

  • fish

  • peanuts

  • soybeans

  • milk

  • nuts, eg almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecan nuts, Brazil nuts, pistachio, cashew, macadamia nuts or Queensland nuts

  • celery (including celeriac)

  • mustard

  • sesame

  • sulphur dioxide/sulphites (preservatives used in some foods and drinks) at levels above 10mg per kg or per litre

  • lupin

  • molluscs, eg clams, mussels, whelks oysters, snails and squid

As a result of the above change in legislation – foods that we provide for the children for snacks and those that they come into contact with, for example during a cooking activity will be clearly labelled with any allergens that they may contain.

Further information on these changes can be found on http://www.food.gov.uk/sites/default/files/food-allergen-labelling-technical-guidance.pdf
